Hitchin & District Canine Society Open Show 2015 Critique

I would like to thank exhibitors for supporting this entry despite the potential clash with a Deerhound Club judging seminar.  I was particularly impressed by the bone and substance present.

Junior (2,0)
1. Trotman & Dockree’s – Stainlonan Rend of Penherald
A feminine bitch with neat ears and correct coat.  Good width despite her smaller proportions.  Would have preferred greater bone and a longer tail but she moved effortlessly and with full balance aided by excellent muscle tone.
RBOB

2. Trotman & Dockree’s – Stainlonan Pageant of Penherald
A promising boy with good bone and strong jaw.  He proved disappointingly difficult for his handler on the day and impossible to assess in motion.  I would like to see him again once matured a little.

Post Graduate (1,0)
1. Samway’s – Cassacre Aethelgild
A handsome mature boy with nice head, neat ears and dark eye.  Well boned with harsh coat. Showed some weakness in the rear on the day resulting in lack of drive.

Open (3,1)
1. Seymour-Jackson’s – Cassacre Aelfrida of Ghiltan
A fully mature, good sized bitch but retaining femininity.  Lovely head and expression, with particularly attractive dark-rimmed eyes.  Good depth of chest, spring of rib and width at rear; balanced in profile.  Neater feet would perfect the presentation but her movement was so fluid and effortless I was delighted to award BOB.

2. Samway’s – Cassacre Aelgyth
Dark, well boned and competent bitch.  Shorter in stature than 1. but still balanced. Neat ears. Good strength at fore but lacking at rear resulting in less drive on the move.
